There's nothing better than fresh, farm raised eggs in the morning!
We raise our flock on pasture where the hens can enjoy plenty of sunshine, fresh air and live truly "free range" lives.
Our layers are able to roam the fields surrounding their shelter, eating as many insects, seeds and grass as they desire. We supplement their diet providing locally grown and milled non-GMO feed and fresh water.
The extra care and freedom truly shows in the texture, look and taste of our eggs. Eggs raised on pasture have been proven to contain higher omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins A&E and also have significantly less saturated fats and cholesterol as conventional raised eggs sold in stores.
In the eggmobile.
Housing our birds while on pasture is easy to do with our mobile chicken coops, often referred to as, "chicken tractor" or the infamous name of, "eggmobile". These mobile houses allow us to move the birds around to new areas of pasture in the evening or early morning while they are nestled safely inside.
Moving the birds periodically helps to keep the fields fertilized, sanitized and mowed. Birds are one of nature's sanitizers, following large herbivores in the wild. The birds pick through the manure for the insect larvae, which if left to grow would lead to larger issues of flies and other pests.
Our chickens are part of our farm program not only for their nutritious eggs, but for sanitizing our pasture behind our cows and pigs which are grazing in the paddocks ahead of the eggmobile.
We sell eggs year round for $4.00 per dozen, available for pickup every day of the week at our "honor system" farm stand. Eggs are sold on a first come first served basis and it is best to call ahead and check availability before stopping by.
